Marble Paint Art

My son Dirty D has a huge collection of marbles.  A large percentage of them were mine when I was little and were passed down to him, and we use them every once in awhile when he feels like setting up (and cleaning up after!) his marble run.  They don't really get much use though, so I thought we'd get a few out to use to create some art.

I originally learned about marble art when I was teaching prekinder, and loved that it was really rather simple to do yet the end results are quite beautiful!  So I gathered the materials and set up for marble paint art!

Dirty D and Princess used cookie sheets while Curls (with a brand new not so curly hairdo) used a cake pan to help keep his marbles in check.  Then the kids picked a couple paint colors and put their marbles in the paint and rolled them around to get them covered in paint.  Then they put their marbles on the paper in their tray and started shaking and tipping the tray around.

Curls did for a few moments but decided he'd rather hold the marbles.
The marbles rolled around on the paper, leaving pretty trails of color in their wake.  The kids really enjoyed the process, and in the end had some very pretty pictures!

The best thing about it?  The cookie sheets and marbles rinse right off, so it looks like messy art, but it really isn't!

Here's where I linked up!
