Homemade Granola Bars!

This afternoon Princess and I had some quality time to spend together without the boys, which doesn't happen very often!  When I asked her what she'd like to do, she informed me that she'd like to cook with me.  We decided to make something that everybody loves here at home: granola bars.  They are just delish, (somewhat) healthy, and so easy to throw together at home and add in whatever flavors you'd like.  So we got our ingredients and set ourselves to make some yummy granola bars!

Homemade Granola Bars:

4 cups oatmeal (any kind)
1 cup butter, melted
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup maple syrup
2 cups add ins (such as cereal, m&m's, marshmallows, raisins, chocolate chips, etc.)

First, we preheated the oven to 350.  We melted the butter in the microwave for about a minute and a half.  While the butter was melting Princess measured out the 4 cups of oatmeal (we used old fashioned, but it works with whatever kind) into our mixer bowl.

Next, we added the melted butter to the oatmeal and mixed it together well.  Princess then measured out and added the add ins (we used some marshmallow/chocolate cereal and some raisins) and the 1/2 cup syrup...
Then she measured, packed and added the brown sugar...
While Princess was measuring and adding the ingredients, I lined a 13x9 pan with foil and lightly greased it with the wrappers from the sticks of butter we melted...
After getting all prepared and letting the mixer do it's work, we pressed the mixture into the pan...

And then put the mixture into the oven to bake for 25 minutes.  After they were cooked and cooled for a good ten minutes, we cut them into bars, and we had this deliciousness to devour:
So scrumptious!
These are seriously so good.  Everyone in the house loves them, and they actually disappear quite fast!  It was nice to spend some time hanging out with my amazing daughter. She's growing up to be a cook like her mama! :)

Here's where I linked up!
