So of course, the first Italy focused activity we did (after sharing the great info and pictures from National Geographic kids) was invite some of the kids friends over to make individual pizzas. They turned out great and all the kids had an absolute blast putting together their own pizzas, but unfortunately I left the camera in the car and Studly was at work, so I couldn't take any pics. Well, I knew I didn't want to go back and buy more pizza stuff, so I decided to do a twist on the pizza idea and have my three make dessert pizzas instead!
Ahhh, dessert. My favorite thing!
First I went to my local grocery store and bought a tube of sugar cookie dough. Now, you can always make your own, but I have never had success when I make sugar cookies. It's either a case of too much flour, too little flour, rolling to thin, rolling uneven, just a whole varied mess of problems! So I don't really try anymore. Yay for sugar cookie dough in a tube! Also on that trip I grabbed some gummy candies, sandwich cookies, and fruit roll snacks for the pizza "toppings".
When the kids were washed up and ready for the fun to start, I tore off four chunks of dough and slapped them on my baking sheet; one for each kid and one for me! Princess and Dirty D rolled the dough out into somewhat circular shapes and we put them in the oven to bake according to the package directions.

They don't have to be pretty to eventually taste great! |
After we took out our "crusts" and let them cool sufficiently, it was time to make and decorate our dessert pizzas!

First we needed sauce, so we spread on some chocolate pudding! |

Then the kids went wild adding the toppings |
When the kids were done, we had this yummy deliciousness:
Then it was time to dig in and enjoy!
