A Blogger's Favorite: Sidewalk Squeezie Paint!

There is a definite reason that this Sidewalk Chalk Paint idea is all over the blogosphere...it's so simple (just three ingredients) and yet so much fun!  I was first inspired by several pins on Pinterest, and started stockpiling cornstarch and squeeze bottles last month.  I am not afraid to admit I was really excited to try this out.  I'm sure your kids and you will have fun too!
First you make your chalk paint my pouring your cornstarch into a big bowl.  While stirring, you add a good amount of water.  You don't want to have it thick like oobleck (you can always do that another day!) but instead you want it thin enough to come thru the squeeze bottle tip.
After your mixture is a nice consistency, you use a funnel and pour it into your squeeze bottles.  You can buy some, or be a relentless reuser like me and just wash out syrup and sauce bottles!
Then you add a few drops of food coloring to your bottles, give them a good shake or two, and replace the lids.  Quick as that, you are ready to paint your driveway up!

All three of my kids loved using this stuff!
Princess created her own symbol

While Dirty D did his name

And Curls just squirted the paint everywhere!
They were really interested in drying time for the paint, and were surprised by it drying within a matter of minutes.  They also enjoyed how smooth it felt after it dried, and were rubbing their fingers over it, tracing their paint lines.

Then Dirty D pulled up some dried chunks of the paint and used them as regular chalk!
Here's to some simple art fun!
