To prepare, I cut out a bunch of animal heads and human torso pictures out from the stack of old magazines that we have set aside for collage material. I started out only cutting dog and cat pictures, but realized that the bigger variety of animals I had would mean more funny combinations. So before I knew it, a bear, fish, and horse were included in the collection.
For the human torsos, I tried to find pictures where the subject was posing in a silly way or wearing bright colors. Anything to make the combination of human torso to animal head more interesting and amusing.

Then I spread the pictures out on the table so the kids could see them all and showed them some hilarious combinations. The rest was up to the kids.
They took to it right away, and the giggling commenced! (Sorry for the bad photo quality, my camera was acting weird.)
