Our kitchen windows are situated in such a way that the room is filled with sunlight nearly all day, but they have been seeming a little plain lately...so I figured that some cute little sun catchers would go a long way in sprucing them up! These fun sun catchers were so simple to set up and make that your little ones could make a few for you to send off to family and friends before your toddler loses interest! All you need is some clear contact paper, colorful paper scraps, (we used tissue paper scraps, but you can use construction paper!) tape, and scissors.
First, cut a piece of clear contact paper into a big rectangle, then cut the rectangle in half. Tear the backing off one half and tape it down on your baby's work surface.

Curls was more interested in peeling the tape off the table. |
Set your tot in their spot and show them how you can put the paper scraps on the sticky side of the contact paper. Sit a pile of scraps in their reach and let them press and apply the paper to their little hearts content.

Once he got the tape off, he started decorating his sun catcher! |

Definitely bright and colorful! |
When they're finished, peel the backing off the other half of the contact paper and press it sticky side down onto the paper scrap covered contact paper.

After applying contact paper over it, I just trimmed the edges. |
After you have joined the two sheets on contact paper, cut off any excess. Now you can tape your colorful sun catcher in the window, or use a hole punch, add some ribbon, and hang it near the window!
